OUR CERTIFICATIONS
At VANESSA SPOSI we believe that full disclosure is one of the keys to responsible consumption.
Pesticides, phthalates, chlorinated phenols, heavy metals, formaldehyde, benzene, chlorinated toluene, organotins, dyes… It’s amazing what you can find in an uncertified textile! Some of these substances are carcinogenic, allergenic, irritating… and others emit particularly harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
That is why it was important to us to offer you an OEKO TEX certified fabric, a label aimed at guaranteeing the human-ecological qualities of textiles. In practice, this means: no toxic substances for the body and the environment, no risk to health, a reliable product for the consumer.
MANUFACTURING
Another of our « sustainable » commitments is to work closely with our manufacturing partners.
In order to have a total control over our production, all our pieces are manufactured responsibly in Europe.
We focus on producing pieces in limited quantities to conserve resources and avoid waste.
Our swimwear, summerwear and accessories are made in Portugal, in Porto.
Porto, a place known for its know-how in textile manufacturing and where all our swimwear is sewn one by one by expert and passionate seamstresses.
Our straw hats are made in France, by a family hat-making company renowned for its know-how and labelled “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company).
We are committed to social and environmental responsibility throughout our business activities.
These standards are fundamental to our values as a company and we strive to work with partners who share this commitment.
PACKAGING
Considering the outside as much as the inside.
Our philosophy expands to our packaging and shipping, where we use minimal packaging for our online orders.
We use recyclable and biodegradable packaging throughout our supply chain.
Our mailer bags are made using plant-based materials like cornstarch and wheat, replacing synthetic materials like petroleum.
These bags break down easily and can be placed in your compost bin.
Our swimsuits polybag are recyclable and recyled.
And all of our packaging and hang tags are made from recyclable Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified paper.
THE IMPACT
Fashion is the second most polluting industry (after oil) in the world.
We have combined our love of fashion with our love of the oceans to design durable and timeless swimwear, using mainly fabrics with ECONYL® yarn, a 100% regenerated nylon fiber made from nylon waste otherwise polluting the Earth, like fishing nets, fabrics scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic rescued from all over the world. These fabrics come from the best factories in Italy.
When you choose VANESSA SPOSI swimsuits made from recycled nylon “waste”, rather than swimsuits made from new nylon, you are helping to clean the oceans.
As well as being a solution on waste, ECONYL® regenerated nylon is also better when it comes to climate change. It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil.
The impact is significant and we’re proud to make a small contribution of it.
Sustainability is an everyday learning experience. We don’t pretend to have all the answers, but we are eager to learn and explore new ideas to accelerate responsible changes in our business..
